Making Health Care Available and Affordable

As Attorney General, one of my biggest priorities will be making sure that the people of Illinois have access to healthcare that provides broad coverage and is affordable for everyone. As a cancer survivor, I know first-hand how crippling health care costs can be and how vital it is that all people have access to quality healthcare. I will make this issue a top priority of my administration.

Because the Trump administration will continue its efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act and take health coverage away from our citizens, it is especially important to have an Attorney General who is going to fight for the people of Illinois to make sure that preexisting conditions are covered, lifetime caps are eliminated, and that everyone has access to affordable health care options. Illinois needs an Attorney General that will fight on behalf of individuals and families to increase healthcare coverage and to keep healthcare costs down. If elected, I will use the full powers of the Attorney General’s office to fight against the Trump Administration’s attempts to take away or weaken Illinoisans’ healthcare.

Further, as Attorney General, I will proudly fight on behalf on patients’ interests. I will vigorously enforce the Hospital Uninsured Patient Discount Act, which prohibits hospitals from gouging uninsured patients, and the Fair Patient Billing Act, which requires hospitals to provide transparent and readable bills to patients, and which prevents hospitals from engaging in unfair and unethical collection practices.
